SOUTHBAY PAVILION PRESENTS ONE OF TIME MAGAZINE’S ‘BEST 100 PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE 20TH CENTURY’ DURING THE PILIPINO-AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH

Carson, CA (September 23, 2011) – On Saturday, October 1, 2011 from 10am to 2pm the Sining Kambayoka Cultural Arts Foundation Inc. (SKCAFI) and SouthBay Pavilion, will launch the first annual Tambayayong Festival, a month long celebration of Pilipino American History Month at the SouthBay Pavilion, located at 20700 Avalon Blvd., Carson CA 90746.

The SKCAFI, will host daily activities such as Painting Workshops, Live Portrait Sessions, Shelayan Cultural Dance Performances, Photography Workshops, Mat/Bag Weaving, and many more! They have partnered with the SouthBay Pavilion, Filipino American Press Club and the City of Carson in presenting one of Time Magazine’s ‘Best 100 Photographs of the 20th Century’ called “20 Years After the Eruption” of Mt. Pinatubo – a close up look on why it was dubbed as the eruption of the century.

Also joining the festivities are different active community groups and companies that will host special events on Saturdays – The Filipino American Chamber of Commerce (SL and SLAA), LA 18 TV, Los Angeles Harbor College, AADAP, ERB Foundation, BakitWhy.com, Carson Regional Library, Cal – State Univ. Dominguez Hills Multicultural Center, ABS-CBN, Estacion Foundation, Kababayan LA, Larry Itliong Foundation for Education, Office of Mayor Dear and Councilman Santarina, City of Carson, Carson Adult Day Care, Seafood City, Jollibee, Carson Chess Club, Carson Street Dance, YFSC-PIA(Youth, Family, School and Community-Partnership In Action), Ansons Printing and Fil-Am Arts.
