OUR SCHOOL´S GOT TALENT

South Bay’s Talent Competition Is Underway!

Carson, CA (March 7, 2011) – On Friday, March 11, 2011, SouthBay Pavilion Mall located at 20700 Avalon Blvd., Carson CA 90746 will host the first of the 12 week high school talent competition in the South Bay area.  The shows are going to be held every Friday from 5pm – 7pm next to the food court area.

In an effort to distract youth from the attraction of drugs, gangs and other illicit activity, as well as to create an atmosphere for artistry and creativity to prosper, a group of concerned citizens has crafted a non-profit arts program called SOCIAL IMPACT PRODUCTIONS. They are currently producing a 12 week, 12 high school talent competition called, "OUR SCHOOL´S GOT TALENT."

The production begins March 11th and ends May 27th and expects over one hundred acts from local high schools to participate in the first competition series at South Bay Pavilion. They consider this as a tremendous opportunity to create and promote an enthusiastic and patriotic school spirited competition.

Willman Morcillo, the Chief Administrator for SOCIAL IMPACT PRODUCTIONS, shared, “Our purpose in doing this is to influence society in a positive way through the arts and social events.  In addition, we will be very similar in nature to what intramural high school sports provide the community on an on-going basis by helping to develop after school arts programs with mentors from the local community, as well as celebrity participants.”

“Social Impact Productions is committed to changing the world through the arts and social events that deliver positive messages on a continuing basis.” Morcillo continues, “It is our belief that there is no better or more fulfilling activity than a group of people working together in a common activity for the betterment of each and every individual in the community.”

With the endorsement and support of the Mayor of Carson, the South Bay Pavilion, and Cal State Dominguez Hills, the group is seeking additional partnerships from the community. Additionally, they are asking support in helping promote and find local talent in schools or jurisdictions by introducing the production through meetings and assemblies.  Of course, teachers and any members of the community, including the youth that want to support and help the program in any way are invited to become involved.  SOCIAL IMPACT PRODUCTIONS is a division of the YOUTH, FAMILY, SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION.

The program starts Friday March 11 with Carson High School and goes to May 6th for the 9 preliminary rounds.  At this point, all the artists are competing against other people from their schools and the winners get the right to represent their schools against the other school winners in one of two Semi-Final Rounds.  May 13th and May 20th.  The Semi Finals will have 12 artists from 6 different schools competing for 6 slots in the finals.
