SOUTHBAY PAVILION TOGETHER MALLWAYS ART CONTEST

K thru College Student Art Contest

Enter the Mallways art contest between now and August 10

Artwork must be submitted no later than 11 pm PST on August 10th

Five Age Categories (Age is based on the date of entry):

  • 4-6 years old
  • 7-9 years old
  • 10 -12 years old
  • 13-17 years old
  • 18+ years old

Theme: UNITY IN OUR COMMUNITY

Description: It takes all of us to work together to achieve unity in our community. The world was affected by the COVID19 pandemic and racial inequality protests for Black Lives Matter all within the same season! Create a visual artwork that depicts the message you want to show our community to encourage unity. Show us what you hope to see in the future and how unity can help change us! Show us what unity looks like!

Eligibility: You must be a student enrolled at one of the accredited schools in LA County

Artwork Due Date: August 10, 2020, by 11 pm PST

How to enter:

  1. Submit your intent to enter no later than August 7, 2020, here: https://form.jotform.com/202090400557041
  2. You will then receive an email which will contain instructions on how to submit your work
    • Your work must be on a 22x28 poster board size material.
    • You will have to take a photo of your work and upload it to a website.
    • Please keep your artwork safe until we announce the winners.

Rules:

  1. The visual artwork must be original. No digital artwork allowed.
  2. You must use a 22x28 poster size material for your entry.
  3. You may use paint, watercolor, colored pencils, crayons, charcoal, and other forms of materials used for physical artwork.
  4. The artwork is limited to one entry per student.
  5. Be prepared to give your artwork a title and a short paragraph of no more than 5 sentences describing your work.

Winning:

  1. The artwork will be judged by some of our community leaders and/or volunteers
  2. It will be judged based on originality, creativity, message, overall presentation, quality, and adherence to the theme.
  3. Winning artwork will be displayed at SouthBay Pavilion.
  4. Top winning artwork will be enlarged as wall art at SouthBay Pavilion.
  5. 1st place winners will receive $100 Gift Cards; 2nd place winners will receive $50 Gift Cards; 3rd place will receive $25 Gift Cards.
  6. All winners will receive a Back to School Care Package worth approximately $100!
  7. All entrants will be entered for a chance to win special items like Beats by Dre Headphones, wireless keyboard + mouse, HD Webcam, Printers, Green Screens, and more!
  8. Winners will be announced on or before August 14, 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Can a student attending a school outside of LAUSD participate?
    Answer: YES! As long as they are close enough to physically drop off the artwork and/or pick-up their prize if they win.
  2. Can we glue materials to the poster and have it be a part of the artwork?
    Answer: NO. The artwork needs to be flat so only drawings and paintings are allowed for this contest.
  3. Can we enter more than once?
    Answer: YES but each entry has to be submitted separately
  4. Are digital artwork allowed?
    Answer: No.
  5. Can we use a poster bigger than 22x28?
    Answer: No.

  6. DISCLAIMER:
    All potential winners will be contacted through the email address provided on the submission entry. The failure to respond promptly to the notification shall result in forfeiture of the Prize, ribbon, and certificate. Sponsor (SouthBay Pavilion, it’s owners, and partners) will request, and potential Winner agrees to confirm parental permission/consent, an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release covering eligibility, liability, advertising, publicity, and media appearance issues unless prohibited by law. A Prize will not be awarded until necessary information has been collected and all properly executed forms are returned (“Verification”). Upon completion of Verification, a potential Winner shall become a Winner.
    Potential Winners must agree to physically deliver or mail (at the winner’s expense) their artwork for display at SouthBay Pavilion located at 20700 Avalon Blvd., Carson CA, where their prize and certificate will be presented.
    This contest is only open to students age 4+ currently residing in or around LA County. Submissions are open to anyone interested if you can physically pick up your prize and/or drop off your artwork at our location.
    Minor entrants must be under the supervision of their legal guardian who is required to provide their contact information and signature upon contest entry submission.
    If a Prize, or any portion thereof, cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor and its partners reserve the right to substitute a Prize with another prize of equal or greater value. No transfer of any Prize. It is expressly understood that the Sponsor is under no obligation to any Winner other than as expressly set forth herein. Each Winner is solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and fees associated with the receipt of a Prize. Should federal, state or local law impose any tax reporting or filing obligations on Sponsor arising out of the Winner’s participation in the Contest (including the Winner’s receipt of and/or use of any Prize), the Winner agrees to timely provide Sponsor with any information that is reasonably needed for Sponsor to comply with any such reporting or filing obligations. IMPORTANT: YOU MUST AGREE TO BE RESPONSIBLE TO DELIVER THE WINNING ENTRIES AND PICK UP YOUR PRIZE AT SOUTHBAY PAVILION.
    Each Entrant unconditionally assigns and transfers all rights, title, interest, claim, ideas, concepts, copyrighted materials and trademarks contained in any Entry submitted in the Contest and any and all rights including “moral rights” in any Entry submitted in the Contest to the Sponsor. Entrant unconditionally assigns and transfers to Sponsor all rights, title, interest, and/or claim, which he/she now has, or may in the future have to his/her Entry (including any and all essays submitted by the Entrant). Sponsor has the right to use, assign, modify, edit, adapt, dispose, and electronically alter Entrant’s Entry, including but not limited to, for moral rights, to appear in promotional and/or commercial materials, as well as to reproduce it, in whole or in part, without compensation or additional consent from Entrant, or any third party.
    Participation in Contest and/or acceptance of a Prize constitutes permission for Sponsor to use, without notice or further compensation, worldwide and in-perpetuity, any Eligible Participant’s Entry, photo, likeness, biographical information, statement and voice in any and all media for any purpose, including without limitation, advertising and promotional purposes as well as in, on or in connection with the Web Site or the Contest or other promotions, and Eligible Participant hereby releases the Contest Entities from any liability with respect thereto (each a “Publicity Release”).
